Welcome to the United Transportation Union General Committee of Adjustment 898’s newly redesigned home page. For those non-members who are visiting our site, we are one of the largest General Committees within the rail labor Organization in the United States. We represent more than three thousand conductors, engineers, and trainmen in a broad geographic region reaching from Pennsylvania to Florida and stretching as far east as the Mississippi River. We are empowered to interpret, negotiate, and sign agreements affecting our ground service members.

So, why the sudden, dramatic overhaul of our web address? Our former site had become just another static, unproductive, and unappealing web destination, and we set out to change this. We view establishing an effective presence on the web as an important step in the advancement of our Committee. Maintaining a functional web site will further enable us to equip Local Chairmen with the tools necessary to provide first class representation as well.

One key feature of our new site is the freedom to amend pages without the assistance of a third party. It’s much less cumbersome now, which will increase the quality, quantity, and timeliness of information available to our membership. We now have the flexibility to manage our web content entirely in house, perhaps even delegating some responsibilities to interested, tech savvy Local Chairmen. Of course, we will include the standard material, such as relevant Public Law Board awards and PDFs of other important documents vital to Local Chairmen. We will also have designated space for highlighting topical issues, and we remain open to further innovations as we learn of them.

We are encouraging everyone to participate in the ongoing development of our web page. We are all stakeholders and must contribute in order to realize our objectives. As you navigate our new site, which will evolve as we continue to solicit input from members on improvements, please feel free to share your thoughts by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
